It’s not uncommon for me to find photography oriented gifts under the tree on Christmas morning; however, this year my wife outdid herself. As I was watching our kids open their gifts, suddenly my daughter set in front of me a fair size box wrapped with red and white Santa paper. Inside was a Phantom 3 UAV.
I’ve been pretty careful while I learn to fly it. YouTube is full of compilations of drone crashes, and I didn’t want to make that dubious honor. The more I use it though, the more I love the fusion of tech and creativity it offers. The iOS app that you use to operate it is fantastic. I’ve been building a little confidence with it, so I decided to take it up to the Ogden Valley and see what I could find to photograph. As you can see the sky was overcast and the light was poor, but it was still a blast. Here’s a short video of some of that footage.
